EndNotes

"Lucius! How often do I have to tell you to sprawl properly?!"

____________

“We must not, in trying to think about how we can make a big difference, ignore the small daily differences we can make which, over time, add up to big differences that we often cannot foresee.”

— Marian Wright Edelman, American lawyer, author, and civil-rights activist. From Families in Peril (1987).

"So what made you decide to become a teacher?"

I am your tomorrow, so cherish me

I am your tomorrow
Breathe life into children's lives,
Do not abuse them
Teach them how to defend themselves
Do not punish them
Teach them what is right from wrong.

I am your tomorrow
Breathe life into children's lives,
Do not hate them
Teach them how to love
Do not demoralise them
Show them how to reach their dreams
For we are your tomorrow.

I am your tomorrow
Breathe life into children's lives,
For we are the ones who will bring peace in our land.
If only you teach us how to solve problems
Not showing us how to handle a gun
Not showing us how to use a knife.

I am your tomorrow
Breathe life into children's lives,
For we are the ones who will fight HIV/AIDS and crime.
For we are the ones who will bring harmony in South Africa.

I am your tomorrow
Breathe life into children's lives,
Do not ask me to go and buy you beer at a tavern.
Remind me about Sunday schools,
Teach me how to sing songs of praises
Not abusive ones.

I am your tomorrow
Breathe life into children's lives.
