Hard to find job in Windsor area
As a previous graduate from the Child and Youth Worker program, St. Clair College in 2001, I was fortunate to find full-time work in my field within a year of graduation.
Certain unfortunate circumstances occurred which resulted in my unemployment in 2007. Since then, I have desperately been trying to secure another full-time job opportunity in the Windsor area.
The only jobs offered to someone with 13 years of solid and impressive CYW experience were either casual call-in, short-term contracts or temporary part-time, all with zero benefits. The only full-time employment I was able to secure close to the Windsor-Essex area was at a Career Centre in Chatham.
I love my career and I am extremely grateful but heartbroken that I had to re-locate to find some sense of job security in order to support my family. I am consistently applying to job openings in my field in Windsor, to no avail.
For those who are considering going to college or
university, do your homework.
