Since it's founding in 1997, the CYC-Net discussion group has been asked thousands of questions. These questions often generate many replies from people in all spheres of the Child and Youth Care profession and contain personal experiences, viewpoints, as well as recommended resources.
Below are some of the threads of discussions on varying Child and Youth Care related topics.
Questions and Responses have been reproduced verbatim.
Hi,
I was wondering if the collective knowledge of the group may be able to
share some the names of articles/papers/books related to Key Working
particularly focusing on Residential Child Care but I'm aware that I
don't want too narrow a field? I'm currently in year 2 of my MSc in
Child and Youth Care and this would be very helpful in my studies.
Within the UK ln Residential Child Care I have experienced a culture of
having key worker systems in place where there are allocated staff
responsible for coordinating care and providing a supportive
relationship to their ' Key Child'. I have searched around the net but
so far the path that I have taken has restricted me to mostly uk based
thoughts and ideas and I would like to gain a wider perspective from the
world of CYC.
Does anyone know if there are parallels within residential treatment and
residential homes of similar systems being in place and what this system
would be called?
If you are within an organisation that has such a system in place, do
you have have any examples of Key Working Training that you would be
willing to share?
Thanks
Gareth Wall

Gareth,
We used the term “Primary Worker”. See if that helps.
